The University has seven campuses with the main academic campus
at Highfield, two miles from the city centre. The Southampton
Oceanography Centre is based at the City’s waterfront, whilst the
School of Medicine, with its world-leading medical research, is at
Southampton General Hospital, a short distance from the main
campus.
New College, the centre for lifelong learning, is located in the
city centre, and Boldrewood, home to Biological Sciences is close to
the Highfield Campus. Winchester School of Art, one of the UK’s
premier art schools, merged with the University in 1996 and became
part of the Arts Faculty. The Arts Faculty itself is at the Avenue
Campus, and houses a number of leading research groups including the
Parkes Centre for the Study of Jewish/non-Jewish
Relations. |
